Garage didnt repair car as stated

Options
Hey I'm new!

I'm looking for some advice please!

I purchased a 56 plate BMW Msport 530d around 6 months ago, after purchase which was private I noticed a small leak coming from underneath the car.. (transmission fluid) having done some digging online i was recommended to use a Auto Transmission Specialist in preston which is a Ltd company.

Having took a day off work & booked myself in they diagnosed my leak was coming from the sump underneath the car and replaced this within the day for £300 and provided me with a receipt which mentioned the work done

" Gearbox oil sump replaced & leak fixed "

This has not been the case.. later that day after I left the garage I parked up at a local shop to return back again after seeing a further leak . I was told this was just excess.

Nearly 2 months later having contacted the garage they have advised me that the car must come back in to have the gearbox out and it could possibly be the seal. ( this will cost me another £300) and if it turns out to be the converter another £300 (£600) in total bringing my overall bill to £900.

What are my rights? On the receipt they stated the problem was fixed and now I'm being forced to go back and pay more?

They stated the sump was changed and that leak was fixed. Fairly sure they didnt say every single leak was fixed.

The sump would not leak resulting in its need for replacement a new gasket or sump plug maybe unless of course the car was grounded on speed hump and it cracked the sump, Id say more than likely the leak from the front seal was there in the first place, To take a box out fit seal and put back in for that money is cheap.

What if there wasn't ever a leak at the sump and the garage misdiagnosed it the first time?
