Money PPI mis selling but seems to lead back to the same companies

I have started the process of try to establish if I had PPI with some financial companies over the previous years, I have been using the financial conduct authority link to look back at the possible company contact information regarding PPI .The one thing that I have noticed is that it appears that a lot of these companies have been taken over by much larger financial organisations .So my question really is if you make a PPI mis selling enquiry with a company that has taken over , Santander appears to be responsible for a lot of of other companies . Does Santander check against all of the smaller companies or only against the one enquiry you're making .

In addition, if the accounts you refer to have been subject to takeover, the likelihood is that no records have survived the transition.
EDIT:
Didn't you already make all your (successful) PPI complaints in 2015?

No not a complaint in 2015 it's only recently in 2019 when I've actually looked back and had a proper look and spoken to some of the ppi providers but a very good question though.0

When I spoke to Santander from the FCA link and followed it through it appeared Santander had taken over a lot of the other providers . What I wasn't able to establish was if they treat each call as a separate complaint or they check against all of the companies that they've taken over.0

Santander bought a lot of store cards, off these are what you're complaining about the outcome is not guaranteed depending on whether they accepted liability for sale, whether it was pre regulation selling...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
