Car not ready but already paid

Options
Hello all,

I have recent paid over £9000 for a car at a VW dealership and agreed via email to collect it today.

This afternoon I received a phone call telling me that my car is not available as they do not have a log book!

They can't provide me with a date that I will be able to collect which means I am now car-less. I will now also lose out on their free 5 day insurance as my own insurance has been set up to start from Sunday (can't see them getting it resolved by then!).

As compensation they have offered me a full tank of fuel however they added £20 on to the bill to cover that amount of fuel in the first place!

Can anyone advise if I am able to push for compensation? I am not happy about having no transport and no clear date provided on when this will be resolved especially as my money has been sat in their account well in advance!

Thanks
JI

They put £20 on the bill for that amount of petrol. They then offered me a full tank as an apology however the £20 I have already paid will be already there! If that makes sense haha

what the hell are you doing paying for it before you turn up, inspect and collect it?
What if the garage goes bust, what if the car is !!!!?

Don't think it doesn't happen, a large, long established multi franchise dealer here has recently gone tits up.

As Scrapit states ask for a courtesy car and re-negotiate the compo that you want,ie return of the £20 for fuel and them to fill tank or maybe a free/reduced sevice, ask politely,do not go in with all guns blazing but do not let them walk all over you.
