Look on it as a learning experience. So as you apply for new jobs remember to ask them if it's guaranteed full-time hours, or a zero-hours contract. Employers are meant to make this clear, but some small businesses don't.
If it's any comfort the same thing happened to me years ago working in Canada i.e. took a job thinking it was full-time only to find it was "hours as and when". Luckily they always gave me enough hours, but I didn't stay that long.
How long were they going to keep me guessing? How can I have shifts every week for months, to them not even telling me I won’t be having shifts for two months?

I've been on zero hours and I get how you feel. The stress and uncertainty can easily lead to feeling inadequate or worthless.
Try not to let it get to you too much. There are other jobs and I'm sure you'll find one. As you have just started work, it might be time to start thinking what you want to do, I'm guessing waiter/waitress isn't your true calling.
There's a lot of apprentoships around and these are now well funded, maybe look at one of those.
