CPP Claim ?

I have just received my annual renewal notice from CPP for my Credit Card Protection Insurance. I have had this cover since 2004.

Elsewhere on this site I came across information regarding CPP mis selling and a detailed explanation how to go about instigating making a claim .

I now realise that this cover is basically useless and is of no good to me and am wondering if I was mis sold this policy.
The advice on this site states that in the first instance you should take up the matter with your bank , which at that time would have been Lloyd’s TSB but I am not even sure that this was the route that this cover came to me. I have a feeling that it may have been from another credit card provider.

Being as I have had this policy since pre 2005 I understand that I still have a right to complain .

How would I go about setting the ball in motion if I were not sure where the cover came from initially ?

If you no longer require the policy then cancel it.

As to a mis-selling complaint, you'll have to show exactly how it was mis-sold to you given that you've had it (and continually renewed it) for the last 15 years and also ignored the (now defunct) CPP refund scheme which you would have been written to about more than five years ago.

As you still have the policy, it should be relatively straightforward to establish who you would complain to. In the first instance, write to the address on your renewal notice..

Be aware you'll likely be time-barred.

Why have you decidex after 15 years that it is basically useless.

According to info on this site if a policy was started pre 2005 this overrides the CPP refund scheme. If my understanding is correct i still have time to mKe a claim.

After 15 years I have finally come to my senses and decided that this cover is neither required nor value for money.
That apart I suspect that it may have been mis sold in the first instance.
If you do not ask you do not get ..........

It doesn't "override" the Refund Scheme (which closed in 2014), it just means that you can still complain about any period the scheme did not cover. In your case, this means just the first year of your holding the policy.

However, there is enough here for you to be time-barred. You've held the account for 15 years and continue to do so. You've renewed the policy on multiple occasions. You ignored the letters sent (more than five years ago) to all CPP customers informing them of the Refund scheme.

You also don't appear to have any valid complaint reasons. Deciding it's not value for money after a decade and a half just indicates that you should cancel the policy, not that you should receive any refund..
