Cover for older dog with pre existing condition

Has anyone ever swapped insurance with an older dog? My dog is 9 and had a knee op when 2...so this would be classed as a pre existing condition. Currently have platinum cover with argos and renewal is £161 per month. Have only ever claimed once for knee and once when he broke a toe.

I know there arent many that cover pre existing but if anyone has any experience that would be great.

At his age I don't think any new insurer will cover a pre existing condition.

The only one I know available is through bought by many and it only applies to young dogs.

My girl was insured with Argos Platinum and to be fair they have paid out well over 30k in claims for her without any problems. When she was 10 insurance jumper to £250 pr month and than at 10.5 years of her age we moved, I notified them of change of address and they jumped just because of that (just different ares, still London) to £325 per month. At that point I just cancelled the insurance.

Fast forward 2.5 years..

Zara will be 13 in August. I would not put her through any major procedures/treatments and the cost of her monthly meds is way below what insurance would cost to be honest.
