I wanna set sky up in bedroom.

How do I do it at the cheapest way?

I currently have sky set up in living room @ £15 a month.

I also have an only sky box. An old viewing card and an old sky remote.

I want to set the additional box up in my bedroom without having to watch the same channel as downstairs.

How can I do this as I only have one output from my sky dish?

Thanks in advance, Tom.

You will need to change the LNB on your dish for one that has more than one output e.g. a quad output LNB.

You'll also need a second Sky box and card if you want to watch all the Sky channels, which means Multiroom. Wanting to watch different channels basically means Multiroom is the only option, unless you'd be happy with just the Freeview channels. As for getting a second Sky box, it might be worth considering getting Sky+ downstairs, and using your old box upstairs.

  • Go on the net see what virgin offers are on, then ring sky and tell them you are considering moving to virgin, ask them if they have any offers on for existing sky customers, they will probably offer you a free sky+ box if you take multiroom at £10. per month, they will then put the old digi box in your bedroom.
  • Having just upgraded to Sky HD downstairs, this is similar to what I am considering doing. AFAIK I need to connect a cable from the quad LNB on the dish-> bedroom. Connect this wire into my 'currently redundant' sky box.I then need to purchase a Freesat card from sky for a one off fee of £20 for this box.

This will then allow the wife to watch all her soaps & all the other Freesat channels in peace upstairs! Note that Freesat is NOT the same as Freeview as some channels eg E4 are not available on Freesat.

    Hope this helps.
