O/S Daily Tuesday 23 July 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Blue sky and sunshine to start the day - very warm already. Got a line of washing dried yesterday and another load ready to go out in a mo. Will water the veggies and pots whilst I'm out there.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight will be pork loins, mash, veg and gravy.

Yesterday work was busier than we anticipated, we managed, most of the new set up is ok, but one part particular is a nightmare and that's as good as they can make it - definite case of those organising didn't speak to those that work in that situation so what's been provided doesn't really work, but there's no room for anything to be altered to make it better. On the plus side the air con unit in the new office is excellent - so long as other staff don't keep turning it off! It is what it is. There's still things that haven't been sorted out, but once they have it should be better. This is my short day which now won't be as short due to how the new working conditions have been arranged, it's not great but on the whole I've not come out of the scenario too badly compared to some of my colleagues some of who not so happy.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

A beautiful morning, I'm about to hang out my first washload. I have some craft projects to finish, will be working tomorrow and tge next day, just late sfternoon/evenings.

I am having difficulty with this tablet and I prefer not to use my phone for social media so if I'm absent, that's tge reason.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible

    Morning everyone

I had a good day out yesterday. After a couple of hours sitting under a tree reading in the park I decided to wander into town and sit outside a cafe people watching.

Later in the afternoon I decided to get the train to a small town not far from here and have a wander around. It’s somewhere I haven’t been for a number of years and made a pleasant change.

Today is forecast to be really hot so I’m going to have a day at the seaside. My friend has decided to come so we will have lunch out somewhere.

Silver-oldie I used to love doing jigsaws, it’s something I haven’t done for a long while.

TA I’m the same as your DGD with knitting I seem to keep adding or dropping stitches, I never did manage to make anything.

Specky the right girl is out there somewhere for you and you. Have a good day everyone.

Nanny good luck with teaching your DGD to sew. I’m a leftie as well and remember my gran struggling to show me how to do things.

RosyRed I hope that all of the wasps have gone, I am absolutely terrified of them.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Morning folks and thanks nmlc for starting.

After a day of minding 3 DGDs yesterday I have a much deserved day to myself today. It's my Tuesday meet up with my oldest friend for coffees, much talking and finally lunch. By the time I get home I think it will be too hot to tackle any jobs so I want to whizz the vac and duster about before I go.

NAN my youngest DGD is also a lefty so starting out on the knitting journey was an ordeal to start with! Much patience is needed!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them, plus carers and absent friends. Take care all xx

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Not a good start to the day. I must have poked or hit myself in the eye in my sleep last night. When I went to open the windows in the conservatory and found lots of ants in there !!

Holly we do jigsaws as it's something DH and I can do together. DH used to go to cognitive therapy, until he was discharged and I was left to manage, I try and find things to keep his brain active.

Too hot to do much today, housework will have to wait.

    Take care

    Good morning all.

Not so warm here, the sun is hiding under a load of dark clouds.

This morning I'm at the dentist first thing to pick up the whitening kit, I'm slightly nervous and excited at the same time. I'll be going straight to the wee body shop place to drop off car for the repair. The bloke will bring me back here.

Suddenly yesterday my sore but better foot got very sore again - out of the blue. Then I noticed a huge bruise on the inside edge of my foot. It's baffling, annoying and painful!

Plans for today includes staying in, reading and looking after DM. Since getting the wireless bell she's not been quite so demanding - maybe she's embarrassed to 'call me'. :rotfl:

Right, off I go. Thoughts to all those struggling. And a happy Tuesday to everyone.

Good morning, it's sunny here and forecast to be warm.
Hope everyone is all right - i've been away and haven't read back yet. i did read the odd day on my phone, but our internet access was a little bit patchy, and we were busy, so didn't get to post.

I'm catching up with washing, and then there'll be the dreaded ironing. Think I'll go to tai chi this morning and do some shopping on the way home.

DD texted yesterday to say they're staying on at their caravan for a bit longer, I don't blame them, they might as well make the most of the weather..
Hope everyone has an ok day, I'll be getting back into the old routine before we go away again in a fortnight

    Take care folks xx

    Good morning chums,

Absolutely roasting already in the office. Uncomfortably so. Sorry to put the picture in your head but I'm literally dripping sweat down my forehead. Surely this can't be legal.

Anyway, yesterday was my typical Monday; yoga after work. I had written my teacher a little thank you note and found a small gift to show my appreciation and she seemed really grateful. She's properly changed my life, physically and mentally, and I felt saying thank you wasn't enough.

I've got a note from the postman to say I've missed a parcel, so I need to leave work sharpish to collect it but aside from that, I've not much planned at all.

Another NSD yesterday taking me up to 13. Today should be 14.
  • Good morning everyone!

Hugs to those who need them, happy birthday to those celebrating! :j

I'm finally done with editing my video, now on to uploading it and writing the description.

I've also decided to track my spendings (aka a "no unnecessary spending" list) and came to the conclusion that I should FINALLY cancel my gym membership :o I'm ashamed to say it but I've signed a 3 year contract - it was cheaper - and literally only went a handful of times. Other than that, I've been paying a LOT of money over the past years. :o:o The letter is written and I just need my OH to go over it and maybe help me with adding a few more things :rotfl:

It's going to be a very hot day here today (34°C) and we'll go thrifting - for resale.

    Have a nice day everyone!
