hi all,
i usually go to my barclays branch. and machine lets me choose the notes i want. i like a mix of 5ers etc.
question is, can a post office branch do this? obviously im going to ask a human rather than the machine.
im looking to get £200 out and half of that in 5ers.
is this something they can do or are they likely to think im a difficult customer lol

I don't see why you can't request your withdrawal however you want it.
Whether they can service that request is another matter.0 -
When I use my bank card to withdraw cash at a post office I always specify the denominations of notes required and the counter clerk always gives me the notes requested.0

That's very interesting about your Barclay branch …. I'll have to see if my branch ATM allows the choice!
I have no problem asking for (say) £200 in £10's at the counters of my local sub-PO or any of the banks I have an account with.
It would be good to hear if other banks' ATM's allow denomination choice?Compiler of the RS League Table.

yea, my branch is a short bus ride and walk away,
but yea the inside terminals allow it, select cash then amount, then select notes (optional) it says. then a simple break down is shown and arrows up and down to select the amounts of 5, 10, 20 (unsure on 50).
eg so i could select £10 x10 and £5x20 for eg.
find it easier than having a load of coins if break a ten or twenty.0 -
Thanks db …. I'll give it a try ….. of course, not every Barclays branch might have that facility, but fingers crossed.
Anyone know of other banks that let you choose cash pay-out denominations at the ATM?Compiler of the RS League Table.

No, but I withdraw £10 at a time from Lloyds because that usually comes as 2 x £5. Although I can see that would be tedious for those who use lots of cash!0

There isn't any reason why they shouldn't be able to service your request, unless they physically don't have the denominations on hand - £200 in £5-10 notes should be fine however. If not, you may have to order them and wait a day or two.0

Just to clarify, it's the self service counter points inside Barclays branches that allow you to withdraw with your choice of notes, not regular Barclays ATM's.0
