Taylor Wimpey purchase

Hi,

We have recently sold our property and purchasing a new build with Taylor Wimpey.
We are due to exchange contracts on Wednesday.
However, the sales executive at TW have asked us to forward them our memorandum of sale. I am skeptical about this as it has details of our buyer, which TW do not need to see. And, should their legal team not be communicating this with our solicitor and/or estate agent.
Why would they want this? He has also asked for our mortgage issue date and the expiry date, but again surely their legal team should know this already from our solicitor etc?

I am very wary of this as this is the 3rd buyer we have had due to falling through and the 2nd property we have reserved due to not be able to meet the deadlines.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you

I think it’s fairly normal. We were purchasing through Bellway and part of the sales lady’s job was to call once a week our buyers solicitor just to see how things were progressing and to be honest I quite liked it as she knew before I did that my buyer had been approved for a mortgage etc.

It will be for sales progression. The Sales Executives have responsibility for speaking with you EA and Solicitor daily and have to provide daily reports internally to Sales Managers at TW.

Previously all this information would have been shared by your Estate Agents - but with GDPR now, a lot of people want consent to be given by you.

Have TW told you that you are due to exchange on Wednesday or your solicitor? Because, very little point TW getting this today if you are exchanging tomorrow, Wednesday. Although TW will set arbitrary dates with you. The legal stuff will take as long as it takes!
