Repairs to Bosch washing machine

I'm after some advice please if anyone can help?! I have a Bosch Classics 1200 washing machine which trips the electric at the fuse box when it's been on for a short while. Using my best diagnostic tool (Google) 😊 it would appear that my heating element is stuffed. I've been quoted £75 to supply and fit a new one. Or I can get a new Bosch (genuine) one from ukwhitegoods for £35 + postage. Or I could go cheap and have a "compatible" for £10.
I'm not a washing machine engineer but I'm reasonably good at tinkering (!?) So, has anyone done this before? How easy is it? And if I have a go should I go genuine part or compatible? Or should I just get an engineer in/buy a new machine 😔

I'd choose genuine over OEM , they tend to last longer.Ex forum ambassador

This indicates it's not hard

Look to see where the heater is first, I wouldn't want you to take off the lid, the drawer out, the console off & the front panel off only to find it's at the back!Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Seems pretty straightforward, if that is indeed the issue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMYM_j8Uoyk
I'd always go for the genuine part, I can't count the number times I've bought "compatible" parts for appliances only to be sent something completely useless.0 -
Another vid of a Classixx 1200 dismantle showing the heating element at the front - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHibAx64ZY40

Well, I did it! :j Managed to get a Bosch (genuine) element for £26 online, and followed the espares video on you tube (thanks espares!) A few hours later and the washer is working again (hours cos I was being "helped" by the dog who kept taking off with tools :rotfl:)
I thought the main issue would be with the door seal retaining wire, but the handle of a sturdy spoon worked wonders (I didn't want to use a screwdriver in case I punctured the seal).
Thanks all for the advice - much appreciated :T oh and approx £65 saved (based on the quoted prices for replacement) :money:0
