Hi,

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post but here goes...
And I apologise if I sound a bit dim lol, can someone please tell me how to multi quote in regards to inserting more than one quote into your reply?

I have been trying to click on the light blue balloon icons, not working for me and not sure what I’m doing wrong

Thank you

Select all the light blue for which you want to quote, and on the last one just click the orange quote.

Does it still work like that if you want to quote from another thread?

Do you have to have each thread open on another tab?

I'm rubbish at this quoting malarkey too!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

I usually copy/paste into Notepad or similar, and copy/paste the tags if necessary.

Every quote is prefixed with a quote tag, and concludes with an end quote tag. You see them in the reply box when you first quote someone

If you want to quote from multiple threads, copy/paste the quoted replies into Notepad, assemble them into a finished post, then hit Reply in the thread and copy/paste the whole shebang.

It will have to be the same thread, because as soon as you change thread, those selected boxes will no longer be selected.

If you would like to quote across threads, quote it in the initial thread and then select the BB code, copy this and paste it in the thread you want to use it in. e.g.

[ QUOTE=Sea Shell;76065492]Does it still work like that if you want to quote from another thread?

Do you have to have each thread open on another tab?

I'm rubbish at this quoting malarkey too!![/ QUOTE]

(I had to add spaces before the quotes so that it outputs the code, but you dont need to do that.

I just hit right-click the Quote button and choose "open in new tab" for any quote I want to reply to, and then copy and paste the various quotes into a single reply box.

I've never been quite sure what the Multi-quote button does...
  • Well that's all very interesting. I've never been able to get the "Quote this and other posts in your reply" button to work (as some of you may have realised!)

I'll try some of these suggestions - although I don't understand all of them...

    I've been experimenting

Pick the posts to be quoted, and in turn click the Multi-quote button, which shows a white tick when this is done. At the last quoted post, click the quote button, and ....

    You can edit the posts if you want, you don't have to quote them in their entirety. For instance (copy/pasting and editing from the above);

The multi quote button does (or should do) what it says, googler has provided an example.
