Skinny roof box
Options
I'm thinking of getting a roof box for my car as we've just had baby #2 and on long trips our boot was already pretty full.
The problem is that I'll have 2-3 bike racks on the roof, so it'll have to be one of those long skinny boxes rather than the big fat ones (~300l instead of 450-550l).
Has anyone used the skinnier style of roof box before? Can you get much in them? Obviously it's better than what I have, but I don't want to pay £200-300 if I can only get a couple of bags in them.
I went to my local halfords to look, but the skinny ones were mounted high up and they said they couldn't get them down for me to inspect.

Big enough for a fairly average sized adult i would say... Not that i would have hidden in one to know that for a fact.

I have a skinny Halfords roofbox. It comfortably holds two reasonably large rucksacks, a decent sized holdall, a couple of pairs of walking boots and a fair few bits and bobs squeezed into the gaps in between. I'm happy with it - it leaves room for a bike on the roof while adding a significant (if not enormous) amount of space.0

It depends on the shape if you're dealing with bigger items. They should still hold a reasonable amount of soft stuff in them anyway. 400l is about an average sized boot, to give you an idea.
If you're already full, then any space will be an improvement.0
