I'm full-time employed in the UK but my partner isn't currently working in the UK. Seems both of us have to be working to claim childcare (tax free and universal credit). Is that correct? Any advice pls?

You need to give us more information.
Are you talking about tax free childcare or childcare costs through Universal Credit? (You cannot claim both)
What are your living arrangements? Does your partner work away from home and is likely to be absent from the household for 6 months or more? What exactly is your situation?
Are you currently claiming any benefits? Tax credits for example?0
