    Update
I have scrubbed the table, washed up all the cookery equipment, put it away, cleaned the oven and the hob then swept and washed the floors.

As soon as I'd done this, my OH came down and walked all over my wet floors to bring me his coffee mug and if he thinks he's getting coffee in it the moment he gets back from his walk to fetch the newspaper, he can think again. I will make drinks when the floors are dry and when I've remopped where he's walked.

Further update, he's got coffee, I've mopped again and he needs to spend some time upstairs in the Internet until the floor is dry.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Good Morning everyone!

Hugs to those who need them, Happy Birthday to those celebrating.

Not a lot planned over here for today. I have to him a video for my YouTube channel, edit and upload that but that's about it.

We just got back from vacation and while I already wanted to save up for the next one (July 2020 probably) I went ahead and purchased some baby items for my best friend. It's the first time someone around me is expecting and oh boy did I not know how expensive some things are  (I love to do it though. I love supporting her as best as I can).

Anyway, I will list some ebay things as well since I need to get some money in. :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great day :T

    Morning all
It's damp here but very warm. I want to put the mattress topper out to finish off drying, so I'm hoping it will dry up by this afternoon. This morning I also want to make a big pot of bolognese sauce using up some mince beef which I found lurking in the freezer. I think I'll put it in the slow cooker and let it simmer.
Our DGD is coming over this afternoon for a couple of hours as DD and DGS are going to watch the new Lion King film, she didn't fancy the film and SiL has his last day in work. We may do some sewing as we brought her a unicorn in a tin from our last holiday. So I shall attempt to teach her to sew, that maybe interesting as she's a lefty like DD, DGS and MR Fix It and I'm not . Wish me luck !
Holly lovely to see you back posting. Take care of yourself and enjoy your day out, wherever you end up :D.
nanto3girls and Butterfly2507 welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you both.
AOD are you now free to mop my floors too ? Blimey you must be mopped out :rotfl:
Speky my hat is back in the box..... for now :D
A big wave :hello:and a shout out going to those still MIA.

Hugs going to the poorly people, their carers and anyone in need.

Morning all, nice to see some new faces- welcome.
Glad to see you back Holly.
Hope all the carers get a minute to themselves . I've been there & know what hard work it is.Hugs
Snoozer- I know ,patterns are so expensive aren't they.I just tend to use the same ones over and over unless it's something special, but haven't done much sewing this year, mostly the boring variety like mending and hemming :rotfl:
    Speky- keep searching :D

Off to visit elderly Auntie up the road in a mo.She's 89 in a couple of months but still very active fortunately.I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get there this morning,we've had a wasp control man out to spray round a nest in the back stone wall, there seemed to be more and more so I didnt want the DGC stung,or me for that matter
DGD called with her other Nan to collect her swimming bag as she's having an intensive course this week with a lesson everyday,it'll be my turn to take her on Wed. & Thursday.
Right better get a move on,take care all xx

Morning all! Well, one appointment down, one to go tomorrow, and another one next week for an ecg to rule out any problems. I don't think it's serious, I have a lot of dizzy spells, have had since the chemo, probably something either to do with stress or the tablets I'm on. Meds have been sorted so I'm not having to phone for prescriptions every two minutes [feels like] so that's good.
Just come back from docs and had a very long conversation with a neighbour who has always lived here about the houses, when they were built and in what order. He tells me when they knocked the two rooms into one in their house, there was an old pub being demolished so they had a girder from there to put in their house.. Amazing the things you find out..
Thank you all for continuing good thoughts for my father, he's had a reasonable weekend, or at least, a usual weekend. Will go down after tomorrows appointment.

Speky, you will meet someone eventually, I don't have a hat at the moment so not yet though eh? Here's to a less expensive coming weekend! Hester, it is hard, but hopefully, time will smooth out the rought spots. snoozer, enjoy the sewing! I iss going to lessons, I'll go back when I can, its very therapeutic even if a lot of the time involves swearing and unpicking :) AOD, time to institute a clean up after yourself or else phase? Holly, hope you have a great day out, my father loves watching the world go by, you two would be in good company I think.. SO, enjoy the future jigsaw, that's lso very therapeutic and good for engaging brain..seeing patterns and mtching them up. TA, enjoy your day! Nan2, hope you have a good one...butterfly, that's nice of you :) nanny, enjoy teaching! RR, wasps are the one thing I don't mind killing. Hope your infestation is remedied!

Morning all. We have a nrew roof! The boss man and four other roofers worked all day on Saturday. Then a smaller team did the roof of the bay on Sunday morning. We looked after dgs all day yesterday as DD went to Cardiff to meet up with friends from her university days.

We are both tired today! The boss man is coming shortly to replace a broken ridge tile and no doubt will present his bill too. I think the scaffolding is coming down later today so that will be good.

We need to do a bit of shopping today and plan some meals.

TA have a good day with the grandchildren. Holly H enjoy your day out. Gers and taff have a hug. Welcome to gran of 3 and butterfly. HH thinking of you and Steve.

Well have a good day all.

    Afternoon everybody,

Dull this morning, nice warm breeze out there. Visit to dentist this morning.....and next. 3 Mondays as new dentures will take some work to get right.,..in the meantime I will put up with the dentures I have.....God...why didn't I mind my teeth 60 years ago???

Ginto congratulations on your new roof.......I need to get the money together to do mine, as the house is 200 years and has no felt or insulation and the slates are starting to disintegrate. Can't even think of what it would cost to replace with the original blue Bangor ones.

Speky.,..good luck with the search for your perfect mate.

AOD......I am afraid that anyone baking here clears up after themselves......totally unreasonable to expect you to do it

Just realised that I have 15 minutes to get to an appointment......have a good day everybody.

Afternoon all. Back to work today. Had a frustrating day on Saturday. I'd arranged to take my elderly mum to Hobbyc*aft as a bit of a change of scene and to replenish her stock of knitting wool as she is always making blankets for a good cause. Arrived at 12 (as discussed) - dad proclaimed that she couldn't go as she hadn't made his lunch. I said I'd make his lunch quickly but apparently only mum can make a cheese sandwich. Then he said that there wasn't time for her to go as she was going to church at 5.30. I showed him the 30 minute journey time on sat nav but he was adamant that 5 hours wasn't enough time. Mum text me later to say she was disappointed but agreed with dad that it would be too rushed!!!!!
My dad is virtually housebound - partly self inflicted as he won't use a wheelchair in case he looks old - obviously at 92 you wouldn't want to look old. I think he doesn't like being left on his own when mum goes out plus there was no football or cricket to watch which made it worse.
I don't want mum to stop doing things but I don't want to upset dad. When I try to involve him he flatly refuses to do anything.
Oh well - I love them both very much but goodness they can be very trying.

Oooh Blackcats you have my sympathy, its a similar scenario with me.
    Taff (or anyone else interested)
Would Wiltshire farm foods be of help for food for your dad? They have been a bit of a lifesaver for us, they deliver frozen ready meals to the door
I think that you said something about a sore mouth and as well as ordinary meals they also do "soft food meals" for if you can't eat well
(If you need to know anything about them just ask, we have been getting them every week for a while and can reccomend them)

    Welcome to Butterfly!

My sore ankle which got better has now got sore again... there's a large bruise on the inside of my foot. Wish I knew what happened but back on the analgesics.

My own GP must have forgotten the conversation we had about me sending in an SAE for my prescription as the surgery called to tell me that the meds were waiting for me at the local pharmacy and could I collect them or arrange for someone to collect and post them to me! No, I couldn't... eventually the receptionist agreed to get a new script made out and posted. Don't see why a mistake should become my problem!

DM is really enjoying the Mick Herron book I bought her in German - need to keep her brain cells ticking over - so I've ordered her the next one in the series, in English as it's not yet available in German. I'm just glad to find something which she likes, usually our tastes are so different. I'm heavily resisting buying the latest one which is only in hardcover until Feb next year. :p

Gintot - congrats on the new roof and for finding such efficient and reliable contractors.

Blackcats - the elderly can get very 'difficult' sometimes. I put it down to trying to keep control fo some things when life is spiralling out of normal control.

Meanmarie - my recent unhappy experiences with DM's dentures has spurred me into more dental care. In the late 60s I recall a cousin of mine being so chuffed to get a full set of dentures as his 21st present. He even got all his own teeth removed specially. It appalled me then and appalls me now.

    - taff - feet up time?

RosyRed - intensive swimming lessons are a fab way to learn or develop skills. I'm a big fan of them. I was involved with swimming for over 40 years, don't miss it now though.

    Enough for now.
