O/S Daily Monday 22 July 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Welcome to the newbies - good to see some new faces, hope some of our MIA posters will come back to join us soon x
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dull and cloudy here but very warm.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Lunch yesterday was pasta, rice and some different meat bits - bit of a strange mixture but all needed using up - nothing got thrown away so all good. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Just had a chill day yesterday before going back to work this morning - I worked Saturday morning but it's only half a day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Lovely morning here and set to be very warm this week with a heat wave no less, our schools break up this week so a nice start for the holidays.
We had a lovely day yesterday and the strawberry fair was so nice and old fashioned, I had 1/2 a cream scone and a pimms, which wont help my diet at all but we walked there and the long way back about five miles in total so I think we walked it off.
DD and her boyf came over and joined us for a bbq it was all a bit last minute but I did some extra pasta salad and normal salad and managed to stretch the meat to three, dd is a veggi so easy enough to cook for her. It was lovely to get together and a lovely evening.
Back to work today and the Monday group, better get my head back into work mode and think what we will do !!
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
It is warm here already so it looks like we are going to get the promised hot weather, summer at last.
I am going to have the day in the local area today and will take a picnic lunch and go and people watch in the park for a while and have a wander around.
Housework can wait until the weather isn’t so good. I just want to make the most of it while it lasts.
Welcome Nanto3girls.
Hester sorry to read that Steve isn’t too good, hopefully a chilled day yesterday will have helped.
Taff – I was sorry to read about your dad, I hope that he has a better week and manages to eat a bit more.
RR congratulations done on the weight loss, I’m sure that you will meet your target in time for your holiday.
AOD I hope that your prescription for the antibiotics turns up today. I really feel for you the pain from a dental infection is horrible.
Snoozer thank goodness Laura was ok after the car accident, not long to wait to meet your grandchild now.
Dumpling sorry to read that you have been a bit down, I hope that you are starting to pick up a bit now.
Nelski it is good that you have got a lot of work but don’t overdo it.
Gintotmelinda I hope that the work on the new roof is coming on ok.
Gers sorry to read about your hip, I hope that it doesn’t curtail your daily outings because you need that time out from caring duties.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Warm but overcast here, there is a breeze starting now, perhaps some of the cloud will blow away.
I need to wash the floor AGAIN, I did it the day before yesterday but the kitchen and dining room like like 47 bears have had a messy party but the reality is that my DS has been making bread. There are some days when I feel as if I'm some form of life support service but at least this morning he has taken most of his cooking stuff through to the kitchen rather than just leaving it all.
So I'm ignoring all that and having another cup of tea, birdwatching from the dining room. Later, I'll clean up and I have a work call coming in.
Hester, things must be really difficult for Steve and for you and I hope that he will feel less overwhelmed soon
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning folks.
After my long afternoon sleep yesterday I still slept like the proverbial log last night. It's so windy and rainy outside yet strangely warm too.
Plans for today are fluid. Depends on how DM is.
Hugs to those who need them. Happy Monday to all.0 -
Hello and welcome, Nanto3girls and also welcome back Holly.
Hester, it must be so hard for Steve (and you) atm, I hope things improve.
Gers and taff, I hope your mum and dad have a better day (makes it sound as if you are sisters.
Laura and Brian picked up Ziggy so the house is quiet but we have her for nearly all of August so that will keep us busy. Today I need to go to the supermarket.
I've made the blocks for a quilt top but I think that I shall replace two or three of them because the balance doesn't look quite right. I've ordered a dress pattern and fabric to make after that, blimey though it's certainly not a cheap option.0 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start nmlc. Lovely to have you back with us HOLLY and welcome again to our second NAN.
I'm late to the party this morning - school holidays have a lot to answer for! Eldest and youngest DGDs slept last night and are here for the day till DD finishes work. Middle DGD slept at a friends and is getting dropped here lunchtime.
No plans for the day. No doubt eldest will be glued to her phone. Youngest wants to resume her knitting. She's doing quite well but we still get the odd dropped (or gained!) stitches!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. I hope the poorlies have a better week, giving the carers some breathing space and much needed me-time. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
Mine was busy, enjoyable but expensive. On Friday, I was given some free tickets for a local boxing event that I was attending with some colleagues and friends. I got home at 2, so naturally I paid for a few rounds and a taxi home. Saturday was date night. It was my second date and we had booked dinner at a Gino D'acampo restaurant, an activity then some drinks. A problem with the trams meant I had to get a taxi in and out too, so all in, I was closer to £140 for the night  I did enjoy my night, it was a good laugh and she's a top lass, but unfortunately not the one. I've since let her know and she agrees that there wasn't that spark that you need.
Yesterday was spent indoors, avoiding leaving the house in case I spend more money. A restless night sleep and then when I eventually did fall off, I had a super realistic dream in which I met my ex. What is it with me and women, eh?!
Been to the gym this morning. Hopefully yoga tonight too but I suspect I'll be in work a little bit later.
I think I'm on 12 NSD's so far, with today being 13.
HH - Enjoy! I love people watching, too.0
