Evans cycles again :-(

I purchased a long-travel full suspension electric Cube bike from Evans Cycles at the start of August 2018 - a fairly signficant mountain bike for hard trail-riding, jumps and a bit of downhill.

It cost me just under £4k and is currently still for sale at £4,099 on their website.

7 weeks ago, I returned the bike to Evans Cycles as the electric motor would no longer work or turn on. It's now been without repair for 7 weeks and is still in the same branch where I originally collected it from.

They diagnosed that it needed a new electric motor, obtained one from Bosch, fitted it and it didn't work. An incorrect "expert diagnosis" :-(....

The chap in the shop keeps referring to them struggling with the manufacturer's warranty - which isn't the realm I hoped the matter would be dealt with.

I've given various reasonable deadlines for resolution which have been and gone.

I'm happy with any sort of resolution that puts me in the same position as I was before the bike failed:
- replacement
- refund of value of bike
- full repair
- loan of equivalent bike until it's solved
but the closest I've been able to get was an offer of a £1,500 no suspension bike for a "bit of a loan" which isn't really acceptable.

I'm aware of the need to do more of the legwork with the bike being over 6 months old, but consumer advice suggested all that I should need to do is get a second bike shop to say they wouldn't expect this damage under any normal circumstances and see no sign of anything that would explain the electrics not working.

Is this now in "take it to small claims" territory? Or is that not an option here? I'm not sure about how to "prove an electrical fault existed at the point of purchase" as seems to be needed for a purchase over six months old.

I just keep getting fobbed off with useless holding emails and have missed half the summer's riding I had hoped to do with a bike worth much more than my car.

Other complications:
- was purchased with gift vouchers I bought at a slight discount from Xexec
- was purchased pre-Mike Ashley takeover

Try and find somewhere else that repairs the bike. Get a quote then LBA them for the cost.
