NICs whilst on ESA

If you are on ESA does your national insurance contributions automatically get paid? Asking for my sister.

To expand on poppy's post. The claimant automatically gets Class 1 NI credits. Someone added as the partner of the claimant doesn't get NI credits.
(This is one positive about UC, under UC there are two claims which are linked so both halves of a couple get NI credits - albeit only Class 3, rather than Class 1).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

The credits will appear after the end of the tax year - I don’t think they’re updated on a ‘live’ basis.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
