Santander reply

Hiya everyone, been using your advice for some time, this is my first post so please be gentle.

Got ppi back from RBS without issue, did the similar paperwork with Santander who came back and confirmed we had ppi on 1 joint account number (6000056011287***) but they state they need;
  • Other/previous addresses
  • The account has been closed for more than 6 years.
If I've paid unknowingly I want it returned. At the time wife worked for the local authority with great t&c's and I was self employed with a partner and several employees. I have never requested or required ppi.

Can anyone advise on any possible next steps.

    They don't have records so if you don't have records the complaint is over.
    You could try a SAR to see what info they do have left.

    Santander probably do have some records, e.g. the credit agreement, account notes and information from the underwriter about the PPI premiums. As Taff said you could try a SAR and if you do send a complaint, use the above reasons for why you believe it was mis-sold
