Renting

Hi I'm new to this so I will be brief. Me ad my family husband and three boys are in B&B accommodation atm we've been here 7 weeks now the council won't house as they say we made ourselves intensously homeless which we understand that so we found our own property with a well known housing association before we decided to view I told them I have a ccj from years ago still sorting it out so they said no problem we can do a sole tenancy which I thought was all good so we saw the house it's in our budget and all the paper work is done and dusted were at the final stage credit check and references.

My question is will they just credit check and references my husband only as his sole tenant or will they still check me also his credit is all good perfect actually.

Oh never said the reason we are in B&B it's due to rent arrears as the property before hand was way to expesuve.

Thanks
Any advice is well appreciated

Are you sure that you don't have a CCJ from the rent arrears with the previous landlord?
  • No the ccj is for something else back in 2013 we lefred the previous landlord on the 5th June after being at the property for a year

So you owe the previous landlord money?

That won't bed well when needing references.

Are both you and your husband working or what is the situation?
  • Yeah we do I'm part time 10 hours his full time 40 hours

I'm afraid we will just be guessing, the best people to ask are the people you are renting from. From the sounds of it, if you have explained the situation and been advised to have a TA in your husbands name, you will be fine. But really are best to check with the HA.

Usually if you can prove a rent was beyond your means and you made best attempts to pay what you could genuinely afford, making yourself intentionally homeless decisions can be challenged. You could call Shelter or go to the CAB to check this. However, it may be (we don't know) that you didn't, only you know this.
  • Yeah done all that that's why they've given us an extra two weeks in the B&B
For all the checks and references to b we sorted
  • Can anyone clarify the meaning of veri check
    Please
    Thanks
  • Oh and can letting agents ask potential tenants to pay for credit check I thought that was banished with.
