Put in an offer agent suggests another property

Hi folks, i’m in that irritating position where i’m waiting for a decision from the vendor on my offer. Property went to final best offer after four offers.
The agent called earlier to say the vendor hasn’t made a decision yet (it has been two days). A short time later, they called to then draw my attention to another property on the market and said viewings are in a weeks time.
They don’t usually bother calling to recommend properties so can I infer that they know my offer is unsuccessful? Or am I looking too much into it?! Argh!
Thanks

Don't read too much into it. If the other property look interesting, book an appointment. You can always cancel if your offer is accepted.0

Final best offer, with four on the table.
The vendor doesn't get back to you within two days.
I don't think I'd be holding my breath on that one, tbh.0 -
4 offers is low - the demand is pretty high in the area - this is my third offer on a property and all have had multiple offers (one received 10) and went to final best offer. All my offers are between 10%-20% over asking.
Challenge is they’re all selling way over the listing price which means you need huge deposits to plug the gap. I have a pretty big deposit by normal standards - but this area seems to be going crazy at the moment so every offer is a stab in the dark.0 -
Oh and to add - i waited nearly 3 days on the last property. No idea why it takes so long.0

Wow. Out of interest, what part of the country is this?4 offers is low - the demand is pretty high in the area - this is my third offer on a property and all have had multiple offers (one received 10) and went to final best offer. All my offers are between 10%-20% over asking.

When I worked in sales (4 years + ago) I worked in a popular village, I would always do a ring round of people on our books when we got a new property that might interest and meet the criteria of applicants - I don't find it a weird thing to for them to be doing.0

Go for a look. After all only one person can be the winner. No harm done if you are or not.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I don't think this is anything out of the ordinary to be honest. There's a 75% chance you won't be accepted if everything's equal, so it's sensible for him to get you lined up for another of their properties. And there's no harm to you. I doubt he has inside knowledge.0

With 4 offers on the first property, 3 out of 4 people will be unsuccessful.
So the EA might as well suggest that all 4 see the second property - as 3 of the 4 will soon become prospective buyers again.0 -
Go, be nice. There's a 1% chance the vendor's indecisive and wants a chat with the agent about it ... and if you've engaged with the agent and been pleasant at a viewing, they'll remember you, maybe "favour" you if the vendor is dithering between you and one other because .... he's seen your face.0
