PCN Robin Hood Airport - do I pay?

Hello
First post on here...
The keeper received a PCN for stopping off a roundabout (exit not used and cordoned off) for several minutes a few weeks ago and received a PCN today (£60 now or £100).
It was off the road and not causing any issue at all and there were no parking lines there though there were on the road itself.
Keeper's question is, after reading lots of other similar posts, ignore the PCN and risk further action or pay?
Keep reading that the 'chances are very slim' that further action will take place but if they do then the fine becomes much bigger!

What the keeper is trying to say is...will VCS take the keeper to court if the keeper just ignores all letters? Is there a distinct possibility that the keeper will lose if the keeper ignores?

Everyone is asked to read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread

Go there now to get an understanding of the game you are now caught up in and how to deal with this

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving

You need to edit your post to remove details of who was driving

The ppcs monitor this forum and can use posts in your thread against you

Do a search on VCS to see they are very active issuing Court claims

try searching for key words to help you get up to speed. make sure you don't read posts older than a year or so ...

HOW TO USE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION:

Use the Forum Jump button (one near the top and one near the bottom of this page) to get back to the forum thread list. Just above the threads, on the right, is a heading along a line, next to forum tools, called 'Search this Forum'. Put your key word(s) in and change the default search from 'Show Threads' to 'Show Posts'.

No you do not pay unless a judge or magistrate orders you to. Either is highly unlikely.

Airport land is covered by byelaws, and unless the scammer know the identity of the driver, they can do very little, so do not tell them. There are hundreds of bye-law cases on here so read a few.

As nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, complain to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

    Your post needs more editing

Use the third party as in "the driver did this"/the "keeper" received that etc
  • Adding to the post above...the keeper suffers from asthma (inhaler prescribed by GP). The keeper had just dropped off a passenger at the terminal but felt a need to stop in a safe place and off the carriageway to use the inhaler. The keeper didn't want to use the inhaler at the terminal as the keeper was only allowed 10 minutes drop off time.

Would the keeper be justified in this case in making an appeal?

In almost every case an appeal is justified as nine times out of ten these tickets are scams. Also complain to your MP.

When editing, it's - The "driver" did this!

The advice is not to reveal who was driving!

To emphasise Quentin's point, four or the five occurrences of the word keeper in post #7 should be driver... leaving just one remaining occurrence of the word keeper.

Errm, tell us where you read that rubbish? Not here. There is no fine.

There WILL be a court claim, but we have 99% win rate - albeit VCS stopping cases can be hard to fight due to VCS v Ward, which you need to read about to be prepared.

Why not simply search the forum and learn from other VCS Airport threads?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
