Really! You’ve had the flights for months, yet didn’t book accommodation or even thought about it. If and it’s a big if you can get somewhere , mid August is going to be expensive, you have no spends yet have gone ahead and booked a car why? Getting somewhere to sleep would be a priority over something to drive, Milan , never been, but I’m sure has a transport system.

    Good luck anyway.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

How can you even be thinking of going?

    Might be better to ask...

Only once did we go on a holiday that we really couldn't afford. We tried to make the most of it but we swore 'never again'!
    It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
    'Wonder' - to feel curious.

Do you know how much she actually paid for the flights? She might have got them really cheap and your stressing.

I wouldn't go anyway if I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't class flights only as a gift as there's to much other things to book.

Don't think a pony would cover it!

Milan has an excellent transport system. When we went, we bought travel passes and used them to go all over the city.
I'm assuming that OP has booked a car either to get out of the city or because son can't cope with public transport.
Hope OP comes back but they often don't. :(
