hi, im new, not sure if i posted this in the right place, but here goes.........
my mum has just sent a letter to barclay card to reclaim her ppi since 2002, but i was looking at her statement and she has been paying £5.95 a month for accident death cover, she cant recall asking for this? do you think she should try and reclaim this, any advice would be good, thanks.

She could challenge the bank about it, saying she never did ask for it but if they have a form she signed there is probably nothing she can do. I believe the government is looking into this practice by banks because it is realised that many people who agree to these monthly extra payments don't realise what a con they are. They often include various insurances you will never use. Also, get her to make a formal complaint to the bank. If she does not get a satisfactory answer she must tell them that she is going to complain to the Ombudsman. This usually gets a better response. If she does complain to the Banking Ombudsman (you can get the form on line) she might get all those £5.95s refunded. I hope so. Good luck.0 -

I really hope you do. And stick with it once you have started. You will find that if it gets as far as the Ombudsman you do get a lot of post but if they consider it is a genuine complaint the back has to make you an offer. I just got £50 from one bank but could have pressed for more but I thought it was reasonable for my compaint.0
