Tesco Changed Misprice policy?

shavenlunatic wrote: »Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted before but couldn't find it.
I bought a lamp from tesco, priced at £9.97.. when we got home we noticed we had been charged £10.00. I drove back to tesco, double checked the shelf price and once I confirmed we had been 3p over-charged I took the lamp + receipt to the service desk.
I explained what happened and the girl at the desk gave me 6p with a big grin on her face. I asked what happened to the refund and she really couldn't have been happier to tell me they have changed their policy and now only refund double the difference (which didn't even cover my fuel driving to and from tesco!)... even Asda give you a £2 gift voucher as an apology for any mistake (knocking a toddler over is worth £1 apparantley..lol)
Is this right of have I been screwed over by an overly smug shop assistant?
ROFLMAO

If I hadn't got a free £59.99 Mobile off the old policy I wouldn't be bothered about the change, but like someone said it was being abused & had to go.
I nearly passed out when I was handed my money back & the phone as well.Winnings

Yeah I noticed it had changed as I was expecting free goods & refund.
However I recently bought the Mrs a handbag that was reduced to £5, went through as £10. Since the difference was £5 we got double that so the handbag was free in the end!
I now reckon would be more fun to take photo of shelf label and receipt and just keep alerting the trading standards office who can fine them £2000 per occasion. Maybe that would help sort the government debts!0 -
as if you drove back for 3pence LOL
even if you thought it was £2 gift voucher like asda there was no point, some people are so tight
she prob had big grin cos she wanted to laugh..."hi there...i bought this earlier and you have charged me 3pence more, so i drove back in the cold and rain to get a refund"

No he drove back because he thought he'd get a full £10 refund and get to keep the lamp, which is what would have happened if it had occurred earlier in the year.0 -
Write to Tesco and inform them of your additional costs that were incude due to their over chargeing. you should gets some vouchers through the post. remember the distance wasnt 3 miles now was it. I wouldnt mention knowing about the old overchange policy either you were letting tesco know they had a problem with their priceing. Even without R+R they are still really bad when it comes to mispriceing I have had about £400 of free stuff for nothing with the double the difference policy. and a few other really good value items0

scroll to the bottom of page and the £2 gift card per item is shown:
What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.
Wonder what happens if you are UNDERCHARGED??!!
Hope it helps!!!
i'll call you an idiot for complaining.

Interesting about ASDA, my wife was overcharged on 2 items of clothing today. I am going to tell her to ask for the £2 gift card for each overcharge.
Edit:
How did you navigate to that refund policy on the ASDA website?0
