May be £5,000 depending on how much work is involved.

It's not a system boiler it will be a heat only boiler, it is a hot water cylinder the immersion is just the electrical heating element
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Sounds like all you need to do is leave it off on the controller and install an electric shower then, But the standing loss on a foam insulated tank is only around 1KWH / 24hr, so what is that in gas? 4p?

I had a similar system in my current house when I moved in 6 1/2 years ago (antique boiler in the kitchen and hot water tank/immersion heater in a cupboard in a bedroom). Got various quotes at around £3500 which, just after I moved in, seemed pricey. I had the basics already installed; radiators, pipework, gas supply, etc, so contacted a mate and over a week installed a new combi boiler in the bathroom, new rads and thermostats. Old boiler, old rads and water tank went to the scrappy for a few quid. Cost around £2000 at mate's rates, and everything works.

To be fair, without seeing the hot water tank, it is difficult to say for certain what type of hot water system is in place. It may be electric only, or it might be connected to the boiler.
