Licence changes

Hi there,

Bit lost and outraged how things have worked out.

I passed my car test in 2009 in an auto, I thought about upgrading to manual and was advised that all that happens on your licence is the restriction 78 is removed. I upgraded in 2015 but...have had nothing but hassle with insurance and licence checks because the pass date for cat B had changed to when upgraded so now I have only had my licence 4 years instead of 10. Frustrated me because I am asked how long had my licence and when I put timeframe for auto and the checks are made they get error and says licence since 2015.

What is the deal here? I have been able to still have my NCB since before upgrade but it’s like 6 years of driving and licence held has just vanished.

The questions the Meerkats ask are whether you hold a manual or auto licence, then how long you've held this licence for.

So, yes, the correct answer to the question actually being answered is 4yrs, not 10.

I suspect dealing with an actual proper broker will make a difference, because you can explain the situation to a real live person.

OTOH, how much difference is it making to your quotes? As the current 4yrs lengthens, any difference will be reduced, and it won't be long before it's irrelevant.
