Hi again all, after spending some time doing some snooping, I had to create a new credit club account with my new name.. after opening up the report in the credit club, there is nothing out of place but under the 'alias' section my old name is not in there... could this be the problem? --- other than that, the rest of the credit club looks good and I cant see a problem with anything

Unless you're applying under your old name then no, it isn't going to be a problem.

    Okay so bit of an update;

I have checked all 3 credit files,
    1. Experian = All correct information on record + very high score
    2. Equifax = All correct information + above average score
    3. TransUnion = no report available

The EE hard search has popped up on the Equifax report and after talking to EE directly, they have advised that the reason for the rejection is the lack of credit history (Confirming suspicions)
They then advised that if i were to get a pay as you go SIM with EE for a few months then I would be more likely to get a SIM contract later on (this isn't that important to me but good to know)

After reading alot into credit reports, history and scores on this forum I have quickly realised that having a good score means absolutely diddly squat and thank everyone on here for being so helpful.. I am assuming that the Transunion report wasn't produced due to the lack of my credit history and will be checking it monthly from now on!

I have come to the conclusion that I need to start buffing up my credit reports and will look into getting myself a 'bad credit - credit card' using the mse calculators.. I have also read in a few places that using the maximum amount available on the card isn't advised and that I should keep the credit down to around 30-49%.. As I'm planning on only using the card for petrol for now then I am hoping it will be pretty easy to keep my spending within that bracket...

I am trying to take on as much info as I can but it is a lot of information to process but If anybody has any more advice, It is always appreciated!

In the same boat with EE. I have a vodafone, 02, virgin, sky, and 3 mobile contract (i have very poor credit history) but i managed to get them with for sim free. After a few successfull payments i could upgrade with a phone wihthout a credit check (which i did with one of them).

However EE is the network i really want but they keep rejecting me time and time again even for the most basic sim on a rolling 30 day contract. Even agreed to pay a deposit. Cant understand it.

As for getting pay as you go, i am not sure how that exactly helps you get a line with them. I think they are telling porkies there. Not sure how they figure out a pay as you go for a few months will help you get a sim free later on. Pay as you go have nothing to do with your credit report and doesnt help EE judge whether you are credit worthy or not.

What you need to do is go for the most basic EE sim (if you get accepted) then upgrade a month or two later on
  • Yes get a credit card and use it for your normal monthly spends and pay back in full after each statement.

Don’t worry about utilisation as you’ll be paying it back in full each month anyway - these “recommendations” are purely for boosting the diddly squat meaning score :)

Yeah I was questioning it a bit but from what I understand I think it's down to the fact that a company will also take into account it's own experience with a customer as well as the credit history.. so going off that, if your using a pay as you go sim then it could have some sway into how they decide if you get a contract with them or not... worth a try for me though as their £15 sim is much better than the £15 giffgaff sim I currently have so I wont be losing out if I try it

Thanks Gary, I had a quick search before and noticed a few chrome cards pop up by vanquis, I will have a proper read up on them tomorrow though and hopefully get accepted for one soon to start building my rep a little!

you are right in that using a company can sway them later on for an upgrade. Perfect example is me. I was rejected by 02 for all sims and phone sim price plans so had to start at the basic 5 pound a month. I upgraded the next few days to a bigger price plan because they dont credit check you once you are in. Then after some repayments i got a price plan with a brand new phone worth 1200 without a credit check! So you are correct

But having a pay as you go will not at all sway them. You need to get on a basic sim even if its the cheapest one or a rolling 30 day contract. Pay as you go is exactly what it says, PAY AS YOU GO. I doubt they will even know you are on their pay as you go when you apply again. Dont get their pay as you go for that reason because it will not make a difference in getting a contract with them

Ahh fair play, what kind of timescale are you saying it took to get a full contract with them? I have recently bought a new phone outright so I'm just after a decent monthly sim... but like I say, the sim isn't the most important thing about this thread, I was worried about bigger contracts and loans so the sim is the first stepping stone

you can upgrade your sim straight away, i did. The trick is just to get in with them and it may require for you to get on the most basic sim. That is what i advise if you can get accepted. Having said that i still cant get accepted by EE no matter what! But i have a history with them so i assume that is the main reason and i left on bad terms. Im on every other provider without a problem, Start with the cheapest sim plan and then you can upgrade anytime
