Please does anyone have any experience of the outcome of telling DWP you have to use one outdoors?
Yes, my husband. Similar history to you, lifetime award for both parts of DLA, in his late 60's and with hearing and eyesight loss too. Never leaves the house without either his carer or me with him.

He uses his scooter instead of a wheelchair. He can see well enough to steer round people and objects. His scooter isn't intended for road use because his eyesight and hearing aren't good enough for him to navigate a busy road.

I drove him to the assessment in the car and then he went in on his scooter. It was held in a small medical centre, so we just followed the same routine as we would do if visiting his GP.

He was awarded full PIP for care and mobility.

One piece of evidence which may have helped was a letter from his Physio to his GP which stated his exercise tolerance. I sent a copy of this in. To measure it, they had him walking a set distance then he had to sit while they measured his heart. It's some time ago so I can't remember the exact details but I know they were measuring his pulse and blood pressure at least. It was a very thorough examination.

Thanks MCLF that's really helpful. This DLA to PIP transfer has got my nerves shredded!
