I’ve never filled up at one. Ever. I’m perfectly happy for them to charge what they do if people are prepared to pay it, but some quick research and journey planning makes using them totally unnecessary.mollycoddle wrote: »We as a country must be stark raving mad putting up with the prices for fuel we get charged at service stations , up to at least 27p more exspensive than in any town. We should all boycott motorway service stations to stop them ripping us off
sorry cant help but rant about this whenever petrol is mentioned

This is the free market at work. You don't like the prices, you are free to take your custom somewhere else. No one is forcing you to use them.mollycoddle wrote: »We as a country must be stark raving mad putting up with the prices for fuel we get charged at service stations , up to at least 27p more exspensive than in any town. If you want something to be angry about, look at how much fuel duty the Govt takes for each litre you buy - and then slaps VAT on top of the lot. A tax on a tax. Around 60% of the cost of fuel is tax. Fuel would be around 50p a litre without it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
And that money would be taken out of the budget for something else. No fuel duty would mean over 20% of the NHS budget being take away, for example. If you want something to be angry about, look at how much fuel duty the Govt takes for each litre you buy - and then slaps VAT on top of the lot. I doubt it. It's tax-raising problems they will face.onomatopoeia99 wrote: »Electric cars are going to cause the government some public spending problems in the not to distant future.0 -
What difference is there between any other retailer with different prices? I can get a white cotton t shirt from Primark for a different price to a white cotton t shirts from Gucci or Armani. Should we boycott them too? Personally I don't use motor services for fuel but I will go in there for a coffee that I wouldn't pay the same price for on the high street. Is that the same additive that will see an additional 21 miles per tank *

How about manufacturer recommended vs other brand of same quality/standard?0 -

A point I was kind of making on another thread - all fuels are most definitely not equal.

Our fuel cards on our work cars and vans are only valid at Esso or Shell so we have to fill up there what ever the price is.0

Manufacturer's oil or fuel brand recommendations are all to do with corporate tie-ups and marketing. No more than that.RichardD1970 wrote: »How about manufacturer recommended vs other brand of same quality/standard?0
