  • Actually I don't like getting into debt! Does that mean all the people on here who are in debt like getting into debt too in your blanket statement?

All people? No blankets here. I wrote O.P..

You ran up a "catalogue debt" which they wrote off. You have a £400 overdraft/facility (potential or actual debt).
So if you don't like getting into debt, refuse/ignore the offered increase and cancel or vastly reduce the existng overdraft facility.:)

I have been a long time customer with good credit and money in my accounts.
My experience from years ago showed me the dangers of living on one's overdraft.
Mine just sits there and I am happy for it to do so.

I have a £1000 facility. Have never used it
  • I have an overdraft of £450 around 20% of my take home pay, thankfully I've not had to use it for years. I've known several people that live in their overdraft and when pay day comes they are still in red - just thinking about it makes me feel anxious!!
