Spoke to my solicitors, they said once i know the cost of removal - We can ask that they pay for this.
Yes, you can ask. But the vendors may refuse given the fact that asbestos was likely to be present given the age of the property.

Also renegotiations should be going through the EA, not the solicitor.

Thank you NIV - not seen asbestos in this form before
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Slithery - I am aware of that. Its upto the seller if they want to cancel sale, and go through the process of finding an buyer again.

Not necessarily, we've not had much contact with EA at all. Purple bricks hardly get involved, as you talk directly with vendor. So you are wrong in this case.

OP you need to check what the conditions are like of the cupboard and garage roof/wall. If they are in not in good condition and likely to be needing some repair (which you can't because of asbestos) then a you can negotiate the the price with the seller. Also, If one of the selling point to have an extension done in garage then it's worth negotiate the price too.

However, if they are in great condition, has been looked after, i.e., properly sealed inside out and safe to be left undisturbed, and the property has no way to extend the garage, then seller is likely not to budget on price although there's no harm asking.
