PPI with mortgage

I'm trying to find out if I can do anything to claim PPI we had with our mortgage which has since been repaid. The lender confirmed we had PPI taken out through a broker "Key Consultants" based in Solihul who were introduced to us via our Cooperative insurance representative. It looks like "Key Consultants" are no longer trading does this mean the end of our trail.

Mortgage brokers became regulated for insurance in Jan 2005. So, if yours is before that date, then you give up as its pre-regulation.

If it is after that date the firm would need to consider your complaint. However, as they no longer exist, you would have access to the FSCS.

The FSCS uphold rate on mortgage brokers is only around 5%. PPI is not really seen as a mortgage adviser/broker issue as most brokers/advisers sold the good type of MPPI. i.e. monthly premium standalone with its own direct debit. You can still buy that type today. The bad type was single premium added to the mortgage.

Most MPPi complaints fail anyway. So, I wouldn't be disappointed.
