Help. Getting a refund on a flight

My daughter has a flight booked through GetAFlight from Heathrow to Melbourne with Royal Brunei in mid August. Since booking she has discovered that her Masters course starts on 25th August so she can no longer have the holiday. Travel insurance won't cover it as it is not a valid reason for cancelling so she was hoping to sell it back to the agent or airline. Neither are being helpful. She is not expecting all of her money back but can't afford to lose the lot. Is there a way of selling the flight on if there are any takers? Does she have any rights to any kind of refund from the airline or agent?
Any advice much appreciated.

If you would have purchased directly with the airline, the rules for a refund would be clear; https://www.flyroyalbrunei.com/united-kingdom/en/help-support/frequently-asked-questions/charges-and-fees/
But since you booked via an agent, you would need to look at their T&C(GetAFlight).
It's out the airline's hands. Which is probably why they have referred you back to the agent.
Reclaiming some taxes are all for which you can hope.0 -
There is the other option of changing the dates. Depending on booking class availability for the new dates there will be at least airline change fee of £100.
No doubt a fee for the TA.
Best get a idea of costs before you cancel the booking you have.0 -
In her situation, I would contact the university and arrange late arrival on the course: ask for reading lists for the first couple of weeks and spend the flights studying.0

Didn’t your daughter research who owns Royal Brunei and possible links to human rights abuse in Brunei before booking?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm sure she did... like any good student, she planned to use the entire journey explaining to the cabin crew why they should not make any profits for the evil genius who exploits them.0 -
If she booked the cheapest flight available it's possible that it's non-refundable and no change permitted to the booking. Could well be 'use it or lose it'.0

That would exclude virtually all the Middle East airlines and, as many use codeshare with European, American and Australian based airlines it could make travelling anywhere outside Europe and North America rather difficult.0 -

Did you ever travel to Spain or the Canaries before Franco passed away in 1975 ?0
