Urgent current account switch advise needed

Hello,

I was just about to do a switch on the barclays app and just double checked my details at my existing bank and noticed my first name is spelt incorrectly by one letter....

I never noticed as all correspondence was initialled.

I jumped on the phone to try and change this and apparently they said as the account was going to close anyway they will make a note on their system that it's incorrect and the switch should go through fine. Everything else mirrors correctly such as middle /last name, date of birth and address.

Should I accept from my bank that this ok? Or go into branch to change it?

Regards

Personally, I would go into your existing bank branch with ID and get them to update your name on their computer systems, before commencing with the switch.

    That's what I would do... :)

That is also what I would do...

on the other hand I think if you are switching to Barclays to get the double rewards then the offer is on for some time yet so even if the switch failed there would be plenty of time to redo it

Just do the switch. It's very likely to go through, anyway. I have done tons of switches where account names differed (e.g. Joe Bloggs and J. Bloggs). If it doesn't go through, you can still complain to Coventry to get the name corrected.

I wouldn't both with a branch visit unless the switch fails - as above, there is plenty of time for the switch incentive
