Pip and showering.

Hi,
I have a little stool that I use in an ordinary walk in shower as I have arthritis in knees but just wondering as it is not prescribed by an OT would this disqualify me from getting any points in PIP for this?
Thanks.

I use a shower stool in shower at home, and also in our holiday static caravan. Not prescribed, but I wouldn't be able to shower at all without.
When I applied for PIP I mentioned them.
They didn't quibble over those, what they did quibble over was that my wheelchair hadn't been prescribed.
I now have a prescribed wheelchair that I barely use as it's so blooming uncomfortable (solid wheels, so you feel every bump!).
Might be worth taking a photo of shower stool with you to assessment (if you have one). I can't remember if I put photos in with my original claim, or if it was when I went to Tribunal.
Sorry this isn't much help, but didn't want to just leave your post unanswered.
Good luck!0 -
Without double checking it would count as an aid, more to the point do you need supervision or assistance when bathing?0

It appears that the state of play is that, everyday items don't count as aids and appliances, unless they are used in ways that would not be common amongst 'ordinary' people.
I'd say that your ordinary person doesn't use a stool in the shower, so it qualifies. But that's just my opinion.0
