Laptop stuck in Windows update

I have a surface book 2 which when restarted it is stuck in Windows update (Windows symbol appears on black background with spinning circle under, circle gets half way and restarts, loop continues). It's Windows 10 pro.
I have tried to force restart and safe mode by holding power key, multiple times, but just restarts loop
Followed Microsoft help pages and downloaded 2 different win10pro images to usb stick and tried boot from usb, but no joy with either
Think my only option might be send to Microsoft support, but not sure would be covered under warranty (it is only 3 months old with 12m warranty though)
Anybody help?

Thanks, I tried the combination of buttons multiple times, but no change
I have also tried other suggested combination of buttons, but no joy
The only thing I can do is turn it off and on0 -
If the button presses of post #2 don't work then boot from usb is the next best option. Why no joy? Did the boot from usb itself not work or there was a problem later on in the sequence?stphnstevey wrote: »tried boot from usb, but no joy with either
usb boot notes :- https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4023511/surface-boot-surface-from-a-usb-device0 -
Sounds to me like you need to repair your windows installation - as above you will need to boot from USB and select the "repair" option. It's not as simple as inserting the windows USB and turning the PC on, you will need to mash F2/Del (or whatever other key your PC asks you to press) to enter the bios and then you need to navigate to "boot options" and select your USB. Reset and it should then try to boot from the USB and give you the option to repair everything.
