It isn't so much what they charge or what they make up. It's the fact that every Kwik Fit I've been to, or heard of, has been completely incompetent.

A jack is for lifting the car briefly, so that you can either change a wheel or put an axle stand under it. A jack is not for keeping the car in the air - scissor or trolley or bottle or whatever.
And, yes, one 2t (albeit probably 2t-per-pair, so 1t each) axle stand is more than sufficient for keeping one quarter of a 2t car off the ground with the other three-quarters of the car on wheels.0
