Question about paying cash into someone elses account

Hi,

I recently purchased a car and would like to pay the keeper a deposit into his bank account.

I have the account details (sort code, acct no.) so can I just walk into a branch of his bank and deposit the cash straight into his account (he wants the money in his account today so an online transaction is suitable, buy the time thats gone through he'll have the remaining balance!)?

Apologies for the stupid question, its something I've never done before.

Many Thanks

Just make sure you are happy with the transaction before doing this as once you pay that money in it is gone forever even if the seller refuses to hand over the car or turns out to be a scammer.

Assuming you know the seller and are happy with the car and the terms then yes all you need is the sort code and account number.
