4k monitor upgrade question

I have an old 24" HD monitor, 2011 model, and I'm looking at getting at new 28" 4k monitor. Now, will images and video that take near the whole screen on my monitor, be much smaller on a 4k screen due to much bigger resolution. Will Office documents look different too?

I'm just curious as I don't want to take the leap and find disappointments.

I have a 24" UHD (4k) screen.
When I first upgraded I noticed that some programs didn't work very well, because everything was too small to see.
But nowadays, almost all programs notice when you are using an UHD monitor and make things bigger to fit the screen, so I very rarely have problems.
With video it will depend on the program you use, I think VLC usually zooms in on small videos for you. Not sure if that's just my settings
Office documents and PDFs will be fine

That's good if it resizes to compensate. I remember images and video the size of the whole screen on those very old bulky monitors you used to get, that went thumbnail size on led screens.

It's a very popular and highly rated 'budget' one off Amazon, it's an Asus Nvidia 710, if I recall, I was looking as part of research into a new monitor. Reviewers say it plays 4k for them. It's certainly not for gaming, I don't do games.

I have strong suspicions that when standing back from the 28" that you will notice the difference when watching films

That won't support a 4k screen then?

That won't support a 4k screen then?

Since a 4K screen is 3840 × 2160.


Should support a quad 720 though (2560 × 1440). But it is likely to not do much unless your card supports the hardware decoding or you havea decent CPU. Really depends on why you want it.

I won't be getting a new 4k monitor then! I can't afford a new graphics card as well, and I don't really need 4k anyhow, it was just a fanciful indulgence.

I could, but I probably won't, as I don't play games I don't need a fancy one, and if it doesn't allow for 4k, then so be it. I just took a fancy to a 4k screen in Amazon prime sale, but I'm not fussed that I can't now.
