    Ours is white.
I would be wary of dark colours unless your door faces North - I know lots of people who have had problems with black doors and the sun!

Yep. A few years back when we lived on the south coast we painted our south facing, double porch doors black. They looked fab...for a while, lol!

Previously we've used F&B Green Smoke for external doors and windows with grey walls (Shaftesbury greenstone in the case of one house, roughcast render on the other). Would have gone for that again here but felt like a change!

Originally we did paint the front door here Little Greene Pale Lupin, but after a year decided to go with the same colour as the other external joinery (Silt).

Ours is currently white, and we're replacing it with white. It looks smart and suits the house.

Mine is "Dove blue" (RAL 5014). It will go with grey.

    Ours is black.

It looks good. But the downside is that on sunny days it expands and sticks in the frame. It is on the south facing elevation though so is in the sun all day.

I would go with a warm colour to compliment the cold of the grey walls. It perhaps goes against the current fashion for grey, black or white front doors, but a warm colour feels welcoming and that feeling does not change with fashion. So my choice would be any colour except white, black or blue. My front door is red BTW.
