Forgive me if I'm being thick.
I've just opened a Barclays Current Account. I wish to use my debit card for cash back in shops. The instructions on Barclay's website are not clear, this is my interpretation - please could someone confirm whether I've understood it correctly or not?:

To earn cashback in shops, I need to go onto Barclay's website and activate each offer online. Then I can use my debit card in shops in real life, rather than in cyberspace?

Also, can I shop in the same shop more than once? With Santander, I can only earn cashback once per offer.

In addition, if I join Blue Rewards, it says I earn an extra 1% cashback. Is this 1% of the cashback, or 1% of the transaction? For example, if I spend £10 in WH Smith, I'll earn 1% cashback (10p), but the Blue Rewards Cashback, is that another 10p, or is it 0.1p?

Another question, I initiated a switch on Saturday from one of my Tesco current accounts to my Barclays account, but I've received no email or text or anything from Barclays to acknowledge the switch has actually been initiated. Is this normal?

I'm also trying to figure out how to set up Barclays Contactless Mobile, but 'Manage Payments' doesn't appear in my quicklinks menu on the app. Is it just me, or does Barclays have a really unintuitive website and app?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

To my knowledge you only earn cashback on purchases made with your Barclays debit card when you shop online via their banking website and as long as you complete your transaction within the a single 'visit'. The site will tell you when it has registered your 'visit' and made you eligible for a cashback purchase.

The extra cashback applied for being a Blue Rewards member is a percentage of the purchase price not a percentage of the initial cashback amount.

Perhaps the weekend switch initiation has slowed down things. Sometimes, the account you are switching from disables certain functions such as cancelling direct debits or altering standing orders once a switch is underway. If you log into Tesco you may find this is the case and you will know the switch is underway.

In addition, I am trying to add my email address to the app. It says its saved, but then when I log in again, it hasn't saved it.
Just seems really difficult to use....

Almost all of the cashback is for online purchases. Browse the app (or the website, I find this easier), find the retailer you want, click the referral link, make the purchase as normal. For convenience if it's an online retailer that you have a login for, you can load up your basket, close the page, then use the Barclays cashback link, retrieve your basket and checkout.

There were only a handful of retailers offering cashback for in store purchases and these were things like carpet and furniture places.
Also, can I shop in the same shop more than once? With Santander, I can only earn cashback once per offer.
I don't follow. Can you make two separate transactions, using Cashback both times? Yes, sure.
Another 10p. The "enhanced cashback" effectively raises the displayed cashback percentage by one point. 1% becomes 2%, 4% becomes 5%, and so on. Note that the "enhanced" cashback is redeemed separately and often at a different date to the regular cashback.

One last word about cashback. Every little helps, and in honesty I got a decent discount on Argos when they were offering 10% cashback a couple of years back, and Holland and Barret often offer good cashback too. But my advice is to sign up to Top Cashback and compare the rates on offer before you make any purchase. Top Cashback is often the better proposition by quite a margin.
Another question, I initiated a switch on Saturday from one of my Tesco current accounts to my Barclays account, but I've received no email or text or anything from Barclays to acknowledge the switch has actually been initiated. Is this normal?
They should have printed you a confirmation letter at the time of initiating the switch if you were in branch, not sure what the procedure is for online switches. Customer services either over the phone or in branch should be able to confirm the status of the switch.
I'm also trying to figure out how to set up Barclays Contactless Mobile, but 'Manage Payments' doesn't appear in my quicklinks menu on the app. Is it just me, or does Barclays have a really unintuitive website and app?

    1) Do you have the "full" version of the app, unlocked at a Barclays ATM or in branch?
    2) If yes, has it been 10 working days since installation? Some features are time locked for security.
    3) Use the Payments and Transfers option at the bottom of the home screen.

Totally agree. Top Cashback or Quidco (same company, often different offers) are the go-to places for cashback. Don't bother with Barclays cashback.
