Can I just double check? The amount is £53,994.74 (Fifty three thousand, nine hundred and ninety four pounds and seventy four pence) rather than £53,994,74
I'd hate me, or anyone to lose because of a misplaced comma

    Todays amount is £53,994,97p

Not sure where you have read it as 74p

I think the point is that pounds and pence are normally separated by a dot, not a comma.
Thanks to all who post competitions.

Sorry, it should have read "Can I just double check? The amount is £53,994.97 (Fifty three thousand, nine hundred and ninety four pounds and ninety seven pence) rather than £53,994,97
I'd hate me, or anyone to lose because of a misplaced comma."
Glad it wasn't lost on you but you still didn't answer - so is it "Fifty three thousand, nine hundred and ninety four pounds and ninety seven pence" or is it (as written atm)"Five million, three hundred and ninety nine thousand, four hundred and ninety seven pounds"
I am (as I am sure everyone here is) grateful for your answer but as it's written in a format that doesn't exist it's not exactly clear what the actual answer is.

Just replace the last comma with a dot and you have your answer. Not sure why you have written such a long post about this. It's pretty obvious what the daily amount is despite the confusing number format.

As you said yourself, it's a confusing number format. I had to write it again and make it clear as they clearly didn't understand what I was asking, (as they wrote it again with an excitement of commas (think that's the collective term when commas get over used)) Not being a pedant, but when the whole competition relies on you giving the correct answer the correct answer as it should be is always useful. So, I just wanted to check.

    Sorry to bump!
Thank you so much for taking time to listen & give answers here mynellie! :T
Totally clear what the figure is! (A comma instead of a decimal point, I mean c’mon guys...)
Hopefully negative comments won’t deter you from continuing to post
