Thought it might be useful to start a discussion thread, as it is that time of year, when people are working out their finances, ahead of starting University in the Autumn.
Perhaps we can start to add links to information, previous threads and generate questions/answers.

Are there any student finance/benefits experts out there ?

The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

First question I had was about part time University students and any UC entitlement. The guidance on this is pretty vague. It only says they may be entitled to claim UC. I could not find much information online about which part time students could claim UC.
Of course a part time Uni student would most likely have to work or look for paid work, unless they had no work related requirements due to having a baby, caring responsibilities or having limited capability for work.
And what about University students and any housing entitlement under UC ? Normally benefits do not include housing for students, if the students can take out maintenance loans/grants to cover their living costs. Are there any students who qualify for UC housing payments ?The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. Wouldn't this be better in the discussion part of the forum? After all, it is a discussion.0

I can see the logic of starting it here if it is aimed at collating sources of help. On the discussion forum it will get lost amidst the raving and rantingInformation I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Probably discussion is the wrong word for what is intended."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.
