E: 17/07 Win a luxurious foodie break in the Lake District
Sunday Times Where Was I? competition
The prize:
The winner and a guest will stay for three nights, B&B, at Askham Hall, in the northeast of the Lake District — a grade I listed, 13th-century pele tower on the Lowther estate, at the edge of Askham, one of the prettiest villages in the Lakes. For most of the past 800 years, it has been home to prominent local families. Now it’s a restaurant with rooms, combining a modern sense of luxury with beautifully embroidered fabrics and intriguing period details.
The beating heart of the property is the Allium restaurant, with its flourishing kitchen garden — overseen by chef Richard Swale, its menus have a powerful sense of place and season. One five-course dinner for two (excluding drinks) is included in the prize. To help you work up an appetite, there’s great walking at Ullswater and on the fells above Haweswater, to the south.
The prize must be taken between September 14 and December 14, 2019, subject to availability.
