Water not stopping after flush

Hi, so ce last two days a small problem has started in our toilet. Cistern is normal One with two pushbuttons at top (small flush and large flush). After pressing flush button water flushes but then Co tongues to trickle for 2 or 3 minutes. It does stop after that.
I guess eventually It will get worse, any idea how do I fix it? Any suggestions which parts may need to be replaced? Thanks.

Probably the ball valve or modern equivalent needs replacing, easy DIY job but you need to turn the water off to do it.0

Sounds like the seal in the flush valve has gone. Either replace the seal if you can or get a new flush valve.0

One of ours is the same. Just keep tapping on the buttons until the water stops flowing.
If that doesn't work, flush again or open the cistern lid and pull up the plastic disc manually that the buttons push down.0 -
Take the lid off and check nothing is stopping the mechanism from sealing. We use bloo blocks and some detritus from one had moved and was stopping a clean seal.0

Two potential problems it is not clear what is running on
If the toilet continues to run it's the flush mechanism.
If that stops but the refill continues longer than normal the inlet valve.0 -
Thanks for ur replies. I will have a look I side cistern when u get home.0

Ours does this when the flush valve needs replaced. It does the noisy trickling which can be stopped by tapping on the flush button. And also will slowly leak water from the tank at the top into the toilet bowl.
Replacing the flush valve is easy, the water doesn’t need turned off and fixes it.
