Power Shower and Combi boiler

Hi all,

We have an Aqua Lisa power shower with a pump in the loft.

We recently had a new Combi boiler installed and now the shower cuts out every so often. I have to go into the loft to switch it off and back on again to get it to work.

My understanding is that the shower isn’t suitable for a Combi boiler. The water pressure generally isn’t great in our house but the water coming out of the shower is actually pretty high pressured even though it’s attached to a Combi .

My question is, is the shower running at the moment as a normal thermostatic mixer shower? Or is the pump actually pumping any water?

I just want to get an idea of what the water pressure would be like if we replaced the shower for a standard thermostatic mixer shower.

Without a tank to draw from, there's no point having a pump; it would be asking for trouble. If shower flow is ok now, then it will most likely be just fine with a thermostatic.

Back to the installer who should have explained all this -no you cant have a power shower with a combi' the shower should come direct from the combi, should give a fair shower, but not, obviously as good as a power shower

But will the new mixer shower provide the same flow as a power shower working off a Combi? Also is running a power shower off a Combi potentially harmful to the boiler?

Not good for the combi, terrible for the pump

Your current setup can't pump water faster than the combi can generate, so it should be the same.
