Advice on dormer extension

Having recently bought a 1.5 story house I am looking to increase the space on the first floor, where there are currently two rooms, with a dormer extension along the back. Ideally we would put a dormer across the full width of the back of the house which would mean what is currently the eaves could be converted into two small rooms.
I would really appreciate advice on who I should be approaching to do the work. From what I've read up on, it's not clear which trade would be best to for this work. Roofers? Carpenters? Loft conversion specialists?
I would require the roof structure to be altered and the dormer exterior completed, but then most of the fit out from the inside could be carried out separately.
There is a 9x3" purlin running through the eaves which ideally we could move. If anyone can provide advice on this I'd be happy to hear it.
I have got some diagrams but can't post them at the moment because my account is new.
Thank you very much!

some councils (for example Highland) won't allow full width dormers, If I remember when I was looking into it, it was something like 2/3 rds of the width max.0

We weren't allowed to have dormers at all, had to have Velux type windows.0

Thank you both for your replies. As far as I'm aware there are no special restrictions on dormers in the area, besides the normal rules of permitted development.
I would really appreciate any advice on which tradesmen/companies would be best to contact for this type of work.
Thanks again0
