Lost car key cover

Options
Hi,

I need some advice please. I lost the car keys yesterday. I only had one. I know a locksmith and he came out and got into the car and gave me a new one for 100 quid.

Since then I have found the original.

Today I found out I have key cover with my insurance company. They have said to send them the bill and they will pay for it.

On their website they say "A key claim will not show as a claim on your insurance and it will not effect your no claims discount". Thats all well and good, however, my insurance ends in September. I was leaning towards changing insurance provider.

Would I still have to list this key claim as a 'claim' miscellaneous when going with another provider? Listing the key loss results in 400 quid extra a year. Hardly worth claiming if thats the case.

I know how insurance companies try and get out of claims. Would I have to declare this to a new insurance provider?

Thats why im asking. Its technically a 'claim' is it not. Current insurance provider says it doesn't count as a claim against your insurance.

Not sure if I therefore have to declare it or not. Probably overthinking, but you know how insurance companies can void policies for a minute non-disclosure.

So basically you didn't lose the key you mislaid it ?
Do the insurance know that you have now found it ?

Ive not seen it as an option when it asks if you have made a claim.
Pick an insurer who is offering you the cheapest quote and ask them.
