Samsung RSG5DURS American style fridge freezer rust

Hi all
Fridge freezer has stopped cooling. Freezer evaporator looks absolutely fine but the fridge one is rusting (the shroud behind the element) and small stress cracks below it.
Anyone have any idea what could have caused this. No option to upload photos on here it seems.
